How We Help

At Oxford House Saskatchewan, recovery is about more than sobriety — it’s about rebuilding a life with structure, purpose, and community. Our approach is rooted in the belief that lasting recovery happens when individuals are given not just a safe place to stay, but the tools and peer support to truly thrive.

Peer-Led Recovery

Our homes operate on a peer-led model, meaning that each residence is democratically run by its members. This shared-responsibility structure promotes independence, mutual accountability, and connection — all essential for sustainable recovery.

Members uphold five key traditions:

  • Commitment to sobriety
  • Democratic decision-making
  • Shared financial responsibility
  • Peer-to-peer support
  • No fixed length of stay

This model empowers individuals to take control of their recovery journey while living alongside others who understand and support that path.

Life Skills Support

Recovery doesn’t stop at staying sober — it continues with regaining confidence, responsibility, and real-world skills. That’s why we support members in developing the day-to-day abilities that are essential for independent living.

Our Life Skills Program helps members:

  • Cook nutritious meals
  • Budget and manage expenses
  • Maintain a clean, safe home
  • Prepare for employment or return to school
  • Navigate transit, access healthcare, and secure ID

Every skill learned becomes part of a member’s personal toolkit for long-term success — and many are tracked through our outcomes dashboard to help us continually improve the support we provide.

Real Stories, Real Success

Brian

“I believe personal change requires effort and stepping outside of one's comfort zone is growth. I feel tremendous growth in my last year of freedom, I have had to change friends, places and activities in order to change my lifestyle.”

Aaron

“The best part about living here is the safe and sober living space provided and the constant concern from the staff.”

Christopher

“They stood beside me during my weakest days, offering compassion when I felt unworthy of it, and strength when I had none left.”

Why It Matters

The need is urgent. Demand for sober living housing continues to rise, and without support, many individuals relapse simply because they have nowhere safe to go. Oxford House bridges that gap — providing not just housing, but healing environments where people regain stability and self-worth.

Our impact is measured by more than statistics, but they matter too:

  • 96% average bed occupancy
  • 68% of members reintegrate into the community with stable housing or employment
  • Over 150 life skill milestones completed annually
