Alexander’s House legacy
“We lost our son Alex to the disease of addiction at age 23. In his memory, a sober living home was opened in Saskatoon in 2017 and subsequently, Alexander’s House amalgamated with Oxford House Saskatchewan in 2019.”
Al and Laurell Reisinger, Saskatoon
Alexander’s House offered its residents the valuable time, structure, and peer group needed to strengthen their opportunity for a healthy transition from treatment to living a sober lifestyle.
Many people try to go back into their old situation right away; but this disease is many-faceted; and often their family, friends, and old relationships have not changed. It is far too easy to fall back into unhealthy patterns without structure.
With heartfelt pride, we at Alexander’s House are grateful to announce a partnership with the Oxford House Saskatchewan. The shared philosophies of the two organizations made this partnership viable. The experience helps individuals to:
- Apply Twelve Step principles to daily living
- Make healthy choices
- Develop a sense of community
- Improve relationships with family and others
- Identify relapse triggers and put plans for prevention into action.
Our collaborative efforts will provide greater access to sober housing in Saskatoon.
The legacy of our son will live on.
